Guinean Opposition held a meeting at the headquarters of UFDG on Friday, January 17, 2020. At the end of this meeting, Cellou Dalein Diallo, leader of the opposition, reported to the press the main points.
First of all, the spokesman of the opposition, Cellou Dalein Diallo, after this emergency meeting at UFDG HQ, said that the Guinean opposition leaders are very delight for the success of the demonstrations organized by the FNDC and invites citizens to mobilize more strongly for the rest of the fight.
The opposition calls on all citizens to get up and stand up from Tuesday 21st to continue demonstrating and resisting until Mr Alpha Condé abandons his plan to confiscate power.
Among the points raised during this plenary, is that relating to the conduct of the process of organizing legislative elections, the latest development of which is the opening of the campaign by the Head of State while the electoral lists were not yet posted. “We have noted that Mr Alpha Condé, who is a champion of disorder, continues to worsen this disorder because practically it is not possible to hold these elections within the time announced by the CENI. But in addition, we are in a situation where the campaigns are open while the lists are not even completely displayed,” said Cellou Dalein Diallo.
According to the leader of Guinean opposition, “this file is far from reflecting the real state of the electorate. We have 8 million 300 thousand voters in Guinea for a population estimated by the National Institute of Statistics at 12 million, a rate of 68%. Nowhere in Africa is there a country where 68% of the population votes. ”
He also mentioned the lack of neutrality, according to him, of the president of the CENI. “We want a president of the CENI who reassures by his neutrality, his impartiality and his competence. Unfortunately, this is not the case with Mr Kébé who blindly obeys all of Mr Alpha Condé’s instructions, “said the opponent.
For the opposition, Alpha Condé must abandon his plan to change the constitution. “We do not tolerate an electoral masquerade. The political opposition maintains its position and will continue the resistance and oppose the electoral masquerade, “concludes Cellou Dalein Diallo.
According to him, there is no way of accepting an election without the opposition.
