During the Opposition plenary-meeting on November 26th, political opponents of Alpha Condé, supporting the agreement of October 12th, drew the bell on the non-filing of the amended electoral code to the national assembly.
The opposition spokesman feared that the current budget session would be closed at the end of December before MPs could review the new electoral code.
“This change the electoral calendar, the holding of the elections next February. This is very serious, “worried Aboubacar Sylla, who had promised to insist on this point with the Minister of Territorial Administration and Decentralization so that the new electoral code would be transmitted to the parliament as soon as possible.
So, said, so done. According to the leader of the opposition, the amended electoral code was scheduled at the national assembly. This is good news for the opponents who defend the entire agreement of October 12th.
“I know that many of you are concerned about the delays that were recorded at one point in the drafting of the amended electoral code and its transmission to the National Assembly,” Cellou Dalein Diallo said Saturday.
“I must inform you that the amended code arrived last Friday at the national assembly as well as the codes of the communities. And I think deputies will not fail to examine these texts and adopt them in order to organize in February the local elections, ” he reassured.
