This raping took place on Monday, November 14th 2016, around 5 pm in Coyah prefecture a suburb 50 km away from Conakry, in Somayahkhori, in the sub districts of Kouriah sub-prefecture.
The victim was named Mmahawa Camara, about seven years old, daughter of Mohamed and Salematou Camara, a first-year student living with her parents in Somayah Khori. She was in the accompanied with a boy who was about the same age as her when she went to the gravel mining quarries to sell water. At one point his companion lost sight of her. Informed of her missing, the parents of the girl immediately sought everywhere in this career but in vain. On Tuesday, November 15th, 2016 her body was discovered floating on the water of a pond by two people who were passing. The local elected representatives, the security services of the locality were informed and went to the area for an observation. After this discovery, the Coyah research gendarmerie brigade also went to see the facts. According to the doctor who did the medical examination, the girl was raped, killed before being thrown into the water. After the finding, the girl’s body was handed over to her parents for burial. For the moment, the alleged perpetrators of this criminal act have not been identified, and an investigation has been opened by the Coyah Research Brigade.
This horrible raping and killing raise questions on children’s rights and labour. Why do parents let, sometimes oblige children to sell and work like grown-ups? Isn’t it a kind of a children’s exploitation?
